Choose format or occasion
31 December and 1 January: specify the date
Give day, year and meal when enquiring. A dinner on 31 December may finish before midnight; lunch on 1 January is a separate service. Check which celebration a publication refers to before treating it as current.
Dinner, toast and party may be separate
Ask what the dining rate includes and how long the space remains open. Confirm a toast, music, dancing and activities separately. Buffet service does not establish a party, open bar or access to every part of the venue.
Sitting, table and group
Give adult and child counts, arrival time and preferences. Ask about seating, dinner duration and alternatives for anyone not choosing the festive menu. For a private space, request its terms rather than assuming exclusivity.
Before confirming a year-end booking
Request the menu, total, deposit, balance and change or cancellation terms in writing. Plan the return journey and quote a room separately if you want to stay. A hotel dinner does not automatically include accommodation or transport.
